Description
Light bars that follow your screen and your music
Gleam GBar2 is a pair of RGB light bars that mirror what's on your monitor in real time — and react to what you're listening to. Screen sync and monitor sync for games and film, music sync for everything else.
They plug into a USB-A port on your PC or laptop and work straight away. No drivers, no sync box, nothing else to buy.
Two ways to sync
Screen sync
The light bars read your monitor output frame by frame and match the colours with no delay. Dark scenes go dark, a game's palette spills into the room around the screen.
Music sync
Switch to sound reactive mode and the bars respond to your audio output instead — beat, volume and frequency. Useful for streaming, listening sessions, or anything where the screen isn't the thing you're watching.
That second mode is what separates GBar2 from a plain monitor backlight. It keeps working when the screen doesn't matter.
Pair them with a monitor backlight
Light bars and a monitor backlight do different jobs, and they're at their best together. A monitor backlight strip mounts on the back of the screen and washes the wall behind it. The bars stand either side and light the desk and the space in front. Run both and the light wraps the whole setup instead of sitting in one plane.
Both take their colour from the same screen through Mitsuko Smart Connect, so the bars and the monitor backlight move together rather than running as two unrelated lighting systems.
For the backlight, Ambit 2 covers 24 to 27 inch screens and Phantom G1 handles anything up to 40 inches.
Room ambience, not just desk lighting
Two bars throw far more light into a room than a strip behind a monitor can on its own. Colour reaches the walls either side, the ceiling and the floor, so a dark room takes on the palette of whatever is on screen rather than showing a glow around one rectangle.
Add a monitor backlight behind the screen and the effect closes up completely — front, sides and back all lit from the same source. That's the difference between a lit monitor and a lit room.
Syncs with your ARGB motherboard
GBar2 connects to your PC's ARGB header, so the bars run in step with the rest of your build — case fans, RAM, cooler, all on one profile instead of three lighting systems fighting each other.
Check your motherboard's ARGB compatibility on the manufacturer's site for your model before you buy.
Effects that react to how you play
In gaming mode, lighting effects trigger on preset keyboard shortcuts and mouse clicks, so you can shift the whole room's mood mid-session without leaving the game.
White light mode for work
Switch to soft white illumination when you're working. Bars either side of a monitor light your desk surface as well as the wall, so this doubles as usable task lighting rather than just ambience.
It also lifts the contrast between a bright screen and a dark room, which makes long sessions easier on your eyes.
Runs on Mitsuko Smart Connect
GBar2 is controlled from Mitsuko Smart Connect, our desktop software, on both Windows and macOS. Screen sync, music sync, colours, brightness and custom modes all live there — controlled from the machine you're already sitting at.
Download it free from our site. Basic lighting works the moment you plug in; the software unlocks sync and customisation.
Common questions
Do I need a HDMI sync box or streaming device?
No. GBar2 reads your screen directly through your computer. HDMI sync boxes are for TV setups, where the video signal has to pass through a box on its way to the screen.
Can I use these with a monitor backlight at the same time?
Yes, and most people who want full room ambience do. Both run from Mitsuko Smart Connect and take colour from the same screen, so the bars and the backlight stay in step.
Is there a phone app?
No. GBar2 is controlled from Mitsuko Smart Connect on your computer. Our TV backlight kits and Fantasia wall lights are the ones that use a phone app.
Does music sync need a specific player?
No. It reads your system audio output, so anything playing on the computer works — Spotify, YouTube, a game's soundtrack.
Does it affect gaming performance?
No. Screen and audio reading are lightweight and won't cost you frames.
